The Permeable Space-Time is a photographic mosaic of 49 modules arranged as a grid of seven columns x seven rows. This work is the result of a gesture of resistance to the accident that resulted in the material loss of a previous work entitled Espaço Permeável, made in 2003. The original piece was a photomontage that brought together two large landscape photographs, one of the sea and the other of the sky. The images were completely fragmented into equal units of 8cm x 8cm, to follow it, to be reconstituted forming a puzzle, where sometimes the sea became sky and clouds turned into waves. Thus, symbolically the boundaries between figure and background were blurred and this process evoked the natural transformation of the hydrological cycle.

However, by the irony of fate, this work was hit by a leak and now the effect is no longer just metaphorical, it has also become a fact, as literally the images have been diluted.

The new work documents the wear of the original parts, but now the module is larger, grouping 12 elements of 8cm x 8cm per unit. Initially conceived to be a book (so the module corresponded to a page size of 32cm x 24cm), the project ended up having its first materialization in the form of a wall installation.

Thus, the boundaries between figure and background were blurred, within the evocation to the natural transformation of the hydrological cycle.

However, by irony of fate, this work was struck by a leak and now the effect is no longer just metaphorical, it has become a fact indeed, for literally the images have been diluted.

Now, “Permeable Space-Time” documents the marks of entropy over “Permeable Space”, however it is reproduced in a larger module,
grouping 12 original elements of 8cm x 8cm per unit. Initially designed to be a book (therefore the module corresponded to the page size of 32cm x 24cm), the project ended up having its first materialization in the form of a wall installation commissioned by Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo.
